Social Media Rules you must follow during London Olympics 2012

London Olympics will have some strict rules regarding your use of Social Media.

Under the rules, there are some things which you should not do; else you can court trouble.

Social Media Rules you must follow during London Olympics 2012:

1) As a spectator or an athlete you can take the photos and videos, inside the game veues; but can’t upload the photos and videos of the events on social networking sites, not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

2) The Game organizers will ensure that non-Olympic logos and trademarks will be covered in and around Olympic venues. So that they are not shown in any way, not even online, as sponsors of the Games.

3) Athletes will not even be able to tweet which brand-they are wearing or eating.

4) Athletes are not allowed to have their photos taken next to branded products that are not official sponsors of the Games. Spectators and Athletes are not allowed to share them online.

5) The Images, video and sound recordings of the Games taken by a Ticket Holder/Spectator cannot be used for any purpose other than for private and domestic purposes; and a Ticket Holder/Spectator may not license, broadcast or publish video and/or sound recordings, including on social networking websites and the Internet more generally.”

The London Olympics 2012 admit that the ban on spectators posting content is “unenforceable”. And in this age of internet, they will not be doing anything foolish, which can directly or indirectly doom the success of the Games.

According to The London 2012 Organizing Committee (LOCOG), the rules are actually to protect the interests of the rightful sponsors of the games; and are aimed at barring those from the commercial sector, who wrongfully invent ways to associate themselves with the Games.

The social networks appear to be the party in this. Twitter is disallowing non-official sponsors advertising with promoted ads under Olympic trademarks, such as #London2012. --------
