Twitter's acquisition again in news | Google or SalesForce
Twitter is being acquired. And according to this article, this time the news comes from trust-worthy source.

This time, amidst the various suitors is Salesforce,a cloud services provider for the enterprise. Google and Microsoft are also among the probable buyers list.

In an article, which I wrote last year, I elaborated as to why I think some big search Engine, aka Google will buy Twitter. But this time with SalesForce in the picture, one can assume it to be a very interested buyer as well.

While #tags synonymous with twitter, its real time search capabilities suit Google. The twitter, if seen from a very restricted perspective seems to be a good add on to Salesforce as well. But that way Twitter would have to be limited to a marketing tool for analytics gathering. And its current virtue of being a consumer driver (common Joe) driven platform will or eventually be shed down. A scenario which will negate salesforce's any chances of making money.

The final thing which will decide the acquisition, will of course be money. I don't think money will be factor, as Twitter will be not solicit much money, to the tune of LinkedIn's (Microsoft purchased LinkedIn for 26 Billion USD). I think Google will acquire it.

Twitter Native Polls Or Twitter Surveys will weaken the Tweets
Will you create polls on your tweets, if Twitter allows you to?

I'm asking this question as Twitter is working to allow Twitter users add quick polls to their tweets.

The Twitter Surveys or Twitter polls are presently being tested on Twitter mobile app and website only. That's the Twitter desktop applications like TweetDeck are not showing them at present.

For who the Twitter Poll feature is for?

With 316 million monthly active users, it's difficult to understand how Twitter wants to benefit from the Twitter Polls. That too when every Twitter user will have the ability create a poll in his/her tweet.

I'm saying this, as a 140 character tweet along with a hashtag in itself is a survey. With one missing feature though: A hashtag can show whether it's trending or not; but it doesn't tell what people opine when they used the trending hashtag. I think, Twitter rolled out Twitter native polls, just to rectify this deficiency. But has it taken the right way, is still questionable.

I think, rolling Twitter polls will weaken the Tweets and trending topics. As people will take the shorter route to make an opinion. And the shorter route will be the survey results.

Allow me to assume that Twitter is testing native polls feature just to get lump sum money from biggest of customers -- the Governments and Brands, who rely on polls to create a definite perception.

As far as Governments are concerned, then it can be assumed that they will use the Twitter Polls feature to create a pro-Government opinion; and that makes sense, as on political issues people don't take a second to register their slant; and an online poll suits this behavior as well. In addition, Governments live from one election to the other; hence even if an opinion can't be prolonged for years; a political party will not be much concerned.

But can brands benefit from the polls the same way? I think no. As unlike Governments they will be affected by the commercial logic. That's even after paying big money to Twitter to get the brand surge; they will not be able to get the results. That apart, they have to think about controlling perception both in short and long run.

On the hindsight, the ability of Twitter to create opinions or topple Governments, comes from the fact that Twitter users believe that their free will cannot be over-ridden by other means. The moment they start feeling that Governments, power groups and brands are directly paying Twitter to create an opinion; then they will lose the faith.

That's why I don't think, rolling out polls on an online platform, which is already an opinion maker, is a very good step. It will weaken the very foundation -- the Tweets.

If Twitter is rolling out polls to make its platform Government-friendly or brands-friendly, then it should think twice; as it doesn't gel well with what Twitter is known for -- create opinions.

But unfortunately Twitter plans to do exactly that. As according to some reports, the accessibility to embed these polls will remain with Twitter employees and certain verified profiles including those in media and sports. This means, Twitter doesn't want various websites or blogs (sometimes more honest voices online) to share a Twitter poll there.  Another thing which points to Twitter's intent to create opinions in black and white through Polls, is the very structure of the Poll. The Twitter polls which many Twitter users are creating right now are displaying a simple poll structure, where you're presented with two options to choose from. Such polls particularly suit Governments as they create a clear boundary even on those topics where people hold an array of opinions.

What else is Twitter Testing these days?

Twitter us working on redesigning its “Follow” and “Tweet” buttons, which will be rolled next month. The follow button will remove the count. A Good move. As this will increase the value of the Tweet. Right now, the follower count of a particular Twitter user, also pushes the people to decide whether to re-tweet or not.

But, Don't you think Twitter Native Polls and Follow button will no follower count, contradict each other?

Twitter's valuation 2015 and Real Earnings
As you already know, Jack Dorsey is back at Twitter. The current Chief Executive Officer Dick Costello, who was brought in to bring money to Twitter, will leave on July 1; and Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter has been made the interim CEO. Thus what began with Dorsey (Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Dick Costello) is ending with Dorsey. Or in other words, what began with the founder is ending with the founder. Alright, Evan Williams the co-founder of Twitter may had held the CEO position after Dorsey, but the founder is at the helm again. This means that money-wise Twitter never managed to perform much.Hence, it's like: We need a professional to earn money; oh nothing is working even after the change, lets bring the founder again, may be that way we can make money(the other way).

Actually, Twitter has very little virtue in it to make big money. It may still have incredible value as one of the premier social media properties, but I don't see any significant way by which it can make enough money to make its shareholders happy. And the answer to it is in the engagement and the number of active users on Twitter. Who will sit all day on Twitter monitoring one's timeline? Twitter may be a great service for spreading World news fast and in real time; but is it good for engaging users. That apart, even those social interactions which take place on Twitter are hard to monitor. The very format of Twitter makes it difficult to put money making content in front of people's eyeballs. The primary reason for it is the absence of search aspect to Twitter. How will Twitter make money when people don't search some information which can be indirectly or directly linked to some product.

That's why ever since the social media micro-blogging site went public in 2013, it has produced less than desired results for shareholders, including tepid user growth and earnings.

Some experts online are speculating sale of Twitter, so that it keeps running as a useful part of some bigger company. I seriously doubt even this option. As in that case the buyer should be a search Giant, such as Google or Microsoft; else the very meaning of 'Trending on Twitter' will be lost. After all one needs a search engine to broadcast to the World, what's trending on Twitter.

I don't think any other giant with Trash troves will buy Twitter (current valuation 33 billion $) to simply understand consumer behavior (analytics). For such studies, only millions are spent.

How To Add Products To your Amazon Cart directly from Twitter
Simply by replying to the Tweet with #AmazonCart Hashtag.

Whenever you see a Tweet with some Amazon Product link , a product which you plan to buy later on. Simply, reply to the tweet  #AmazonCart (#AmazonBasket in the UK) to place it in your cart.

This is Amazon's way of helping you buy Amazon products, without leaving Twitter.

To start with, you need to connect your Twitter and Amazon accounts from your social settings page (you can also opt out). Once done, when an Amazon product link shows up on your Twitter timeline , you just need to reply with #AmazonCart (#AmazonBasket in the UK) to place it in your cart. It's not quite an impulse buy, as you'll need to enter your Amazon account to complete the purchase.

The #AmazonCart is currently launched for the US and UK. As hashtag will promote Amazon Products too, hence lets be assured that the feature will be launched for other parts of the World as well.

Twitter Data Analytics enhanced with Gnip Aquisition

Twitter acquires Data Analytics firm Gnip. What Gnip's acquisition means to Marketers , Bloggers and Businesses.

Twitter has bought the data analytics company Gnip. The Colorado, USA based Gnip analyzes tweets to offer valuable insights on various metrics to the advertisers or other customers (bloggers, online marketers and marketers).

How Big is Gnip ?

Gnip analyses more than 500 million tweets its users publish, analyzes them ; and then offers the derived and inferred information in the palatable forms such as trends , insights projections etcs.

On the acquisition , Jana Messerschmidt, vice president of Twitter's Global Business Development & Platform, said,

"We want to make our data even more accessible, and the best way to do that is to work directly with our customers to get a better understanding of their needs,"
On the acquisition, the Colorado-based Gnip's CEO Chris Moody said,

"the deal will allow the company to provide broader, more deeper social data. This acquisition signals clear recognition that investments in social data are healthier than ever,"
What Gnip's acquisition means to Marketers , Bloggers and Businesses ?

Just like Facebook, Twitter is also drawing a line between its Free users and its Paying users. Paying users are those users who are paying for Sponsored Tweets or Post Boosts, Ads (in the case of Facebook). The acquisition of Gnip means that the Twitter analytics , the social network is offering to its paying users will become more insightful. The segregation may look partial to Free users; but this is how Twitter and Facebook can earn money. After all, Free users are using these social networks as consumers of a free service. That's why it's alright if they don't get analytical insights. Call it an irony, those companies which depend on User Generated Content (such as Facebook and Twitter) for their growth , have to keep cutting free services to their Free users. ---------

Twitter allows photo tagging, multiple photo uploads per tweet for iPhone users
A day ago, we informed you about Twitter planning to roll out Tweet views feature for ordinary Twitter users (you will be shown the number of views your tweet received).  Now Twitter is offering something else too. This time for the Twitter app for iPhone users.

Twitter has announced a few new features for Twitter iPhone app today.

Users with the latest update to the Twitter for iPhone app will soon have the ability to select up to four photos at a time to upload when composing a tweet. These photos will be displayed as a collage on the tweet’s detail screen. Yes, Twitter is allowing a Twitter user on iPhone to upload multiple photos (up to 4 photos to a tweet). Up to now, a user can add just one photo to a tweet. Don't worry, the feature will sooner than later, will be rolled out for Twitter users on PCs.

Along with the multi-photo support, iPhone Twitter app users will now be able to tag other people in their photos. A similar feature is already available on Facebook; where a Facebook user can tag a photograph with the names of his Facebook friends. With Twitter allowing photo tagging, it's allowing Twitter users to tell the world “who’s in these photos?”. The “who’s in these photos?” button allows a user to add the username of other people in the picture. The good thing is, the Photo tags won’t count for the characters in the body of the tweet, allowing user to use full 140 characters even after loading the photo with tags.

How you can use this feature to your advantage? Well, you can tag a photo with the Twitter username tags of your most ardent Twitter followers, and who knows your tweet can see more retweets.

Availability of the New Twitter photo tagging and multiple photo uploads per tweet features:

Both features are being rolled out to users gradually. To be able to use the new features, all you have to do is update your Twitter app on iPhone.

Twitter for iPhone is a free download on the iOS App Store.

Are Social networks moving towards homogeneity ?

At the time of their launch , every social network begins with some USP , such as Real time news for Twitter or Like button for Facebook; but as the time passes by, they start implementing each other's features. Who would have thought photo tagging will come to Twitter!

This brings us to a question: Are Social networks moving towards homogeneity ? That's no matter how a social network begins, it has to implement the USPs of rival social networks in order to remain competitive?

Twitter contemplates adding Tweet views and Kill @ Symbol
If Twitter goes ahead with its latest plans, then life on Twitter will surely become more insightful and less gimmicky for you. Particularly if you're a content developer, marketer or a blogger.

According to some reports Twitter is busy redesigning itself to attract new users and win back the lost users. In one such attempt, it is now testing a new feature that allows Twitter user to know how many people have actually seen his/her tweet. A great analytic to have one's hands on; as knowing the number of views means getting the first hand feedback on the content shared in the Tweet. The importance of Tweet views can be understood from the fact that Twitter is already providing this analytic or metric to its advertisers for some years now. And these select few Twitter users always knew the kind of response (views) their campaigns are receiving. The company is all set to roll out the feature to other users too. that's users like you and me, the Twitter users who use Twitter for free.

That apart, the importance of Tweet views becomes even more when one compares Tweet views with a re-tweet or mention shown on free twitter profiles. While a re-tweet or mention depicts the number of people attracted by your tweet, to the point that they promote it in their individual Twitter networks; the number of Tweet views will let you finally know how many people have seen the tweet. That's if 300 people viewed your Tweet, but only 2 people retweeted it, then your tweet got just .66 percent retweet love. This in a way will allow you to see the negative or apathetic response to your tweet.

Now take another example, say for instance your Twitter following is huge, but you get too low Tweet views. This means you have followers who have followed you for reasons other than your content. What will be the use of such a following?

Tweet views is being experimented

Twitter has begun the experiment on select users, including select iOS users.

Twitter is killing the @ Symbol

When someone asks you your Twitter handle, what do you say? That's do you prefix @ to your twitter id or not?

Whatever way you state the name, it hardly matters...

There are reports that Twitter is contemplating to remove the “@” symbol. And a select few Twitter users have already noticed that ‘@’ symbol has been removed from their replies. A good move, as @ seems too geeky or gimmicky in 2014.

Surely look forward to the universal implementation of Tweet views feature. Kill or not kill @ is Twitter's problem. ---------

Reach of Social media sites and the Question of Privacy
If you started using web or internet in 2010 and later; then there are high chances that the motivation to be online was either having access to some important piece of information, the lure of one of the top social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Orkut etc.), or online shopping. The motivations in that particular order.

The lure of social networking is real. According to recent data -- More than 70 percent of adults who go online use a social networking site of some kind.

The popularity of social networking sites is so great that (thanks to the mainstream media picking the news worthy stories from the Social media and the celebrities & politicians making statements, washing their dirty linen, taking on opponents on Social media sites like Twitter and Facebook)  even the experts have forgot that Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites are still evolving. And no one knows how the current usage will pan out in future. Especially the areas like privacy.

According to a Pew Research Internet Privacy survey 2013,

21 percent of Internet users have had an email or social networking account compromised. 12 percent have been stalked or harassed online and 11 percent have had important personal information stolen, such as their Social Security number, credit card or bank account information.

How do you see your own usage habits and behaviour on Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter etc?

Do you think before sharing anything online?

What does online privacy mean to you?

Does online Privacy to you mean not using your credit card or debit card online?

Are you so afraid of disclosing information online that you don't even share your bank account number online ( while you don't think twice before printing that account number on a pamphlet or tell to others in real life)?

Do you pay attention to the Dos and Donts of online safety?

Are you confident that the way you use social networks or Web is enough to protect privacy online? ---------

USD 24 Billion Twitter processing 1 Billion Tweets Every Two Days

Twitter processing 1B Tweets Every 2 Days.  350 Billion Tweets Since Being Founded.

In the upbeat atmosphere of the Twitter IPO, where the micro blogging site, real time search site, real time news site or whatever you want to call it, got a public valuation of $24 Billion at $45 per share; lets have a look at some latest Twitter Numbers. Below are they:

Cumulatively, there have been over 350 billion tweets sent since Twitter got launched in 2006.

Twitter took over 3 years and 2 months to hit the First 1 Billion tweets.

Now Twitter users send over a billion tweets every 2 days.  Thus the time Twitter took to send the next billion Tweets kept on decreasing. To the extent that now

Twitter has over 230 million monthly active users (MAUs). 77% of the average MAUs are international.  Around 76% of the users primarily access  Twitter on mobile devices.

What makes Twitter unique?

Twitter is the only public, real-time, distributed, and conversational platform that is at scale, says Twitter CEO Dick Costolo. That's whatever you want to broadcast on Twitter immediately shows. That's why we see many celebrities suffer Twitter backlash. But Twitter doesn't stop at just being a broadcaster, since people interact with each other on Twitter (that's why we have trending Topics), hence its suits brands connect with customers.

Twitter is distributed through the mobile ecosystem and third party platforms. And Mobile platforms are the in thing. Facebook saw a surge in its revenue primarily because of revenue from mobile platform. Costolo said that around 71% of the advertising revenue is generated from mobile devices.

Twitter CFO Mike Gupta said that for the 9 months ended September 2013, “we generated $422 million in revenue, more than double what we generated in the same period in the prior year.”  Advertising accounted for 89% and the remaining 11% was data licensing. ---------

If you are lucky enough (as the feature is slowly being rolled out) then you will see the "View Translation" button below tweets in foreign languages. Clicking on the button will show you the tweet translated in your preferred language right there on the page.

NOTE: The translation button appears only when you've opened the tweet in a new window by clicking on its timestamp (The Time of Tweet below the tweet). Right now, there's a select roll out the feature, for select languages. ---------

Teens finding Twitter better than Facebook: New Survey

A new survey conduced in September last year over mobile and Land line phones in USA reveals Teens finding Twitter better than Facebook; and are migrating to Twitter. The margin of error for the full sample is plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

Below are the key findings of the Survey:

1) Teens migrating to Twitter: Finding Facebook a place with too much drama, adults and parents; teens are migrating to Twitter. That apart, the sharing of too much inane details like what one had in dinner last night; is disliked by teens. Twitter, Instagram (which Facebook acquired last year) and Tumblr are benefiting from this migration. As these services are seen by teens as having  fewer adults, fewer parents and just simply less complexity, informs Amanda Lenhart of the Pew Research Center, one of the study's authors.

94 percent of teens who are social media users have a profile on Facebook. This has not changed from the last year. Twenty-six percent of teen social media users were on Twitter. That's more than double the figure in 2011 of 12 percent.

2) Teens sharing more personal information about themselves: Teens are sharing more personal information now compared to 2006. But the awareness about privacy and how to protect their online reputations has increased.

More than 90 percent of teen social media users said they have posted a picture of themselves — up from 79 percent in 2006, the poll said. Seven in ten disclose the city or town where they live, up from about 60 percent over the same time period. And 20 percent disclose their cell phone number — up sharply from a mere two percent in 2006.

3) Teens are comfortable with presence on a range of Social media platforms: A section of Teens is migrating from Facebook to Twitter; but they are not deleting their Facebook accounts. The migration is simply in terms of time spent. They still have their Facebook profiles, but they spend less time on them and move to places like Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr. The key is the time spent. For instance many teens are checking their Facebook account daily but aren't using it as regularly as in the past.

4) Teens on Twitter are not paying much attention to Privacy Tools: More than 60 percent of the teens with Twitter accounts said their tweets were public, meaning anyone on Twitter can see them and respond to them. Only one in every 4 teens has his/her tweets private. A 12 percent of teens on Twitter said they did not know whether their tweets were public or private.

5) Teens are safeguarding their Online Reputation better than Ever: The poll reveals that teens are taking affirmative steps to protect their reputations and mask information they don't want others to see. For example, nearly 60 percent of teen social media users said they have deleted or edited something that they had published. Just over half the teens have deleted comments from others on their profile or account.
The researchers surveyed 802 parents and their 802 teens. The poll was conducted between July 26 and September 30, 2012, on landline and cell phones.

Some thoughts: Most of the findings of the survey seem to be reflecting the real picture. Facebook of late has started mimicking the real world, where you have your friends, parents, uncles aunts, cousins, teachers ...that's everyone who matters to you. That is why Facebook is evolving into a a place where people craving for support and admiration are supporting each other. much like one common admiration group. That apart, Facebook is not a platform to speak things from behind the veil of anonymity. That's why teens, who are more willing to take rude behavior online, are finding the platform a place with too much drama. Twitter is contrast allows a teen to bash any thing and confront anyone.

Another reason for the survey outcome can be the kind of device, migrating teens are using for their Facebook and Twitter interactions. If Teens are using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr on mobile phones; then the simplicity of layout of the mobile sites could also be fueling the migration.

Boston Marathon bombings 'saddest' day on Twitter in 5 years

Twitter data reveals that the Boston Marathon bombings was the 'saddest' day on Twitter in five years.

Guess how someone using Twitter data may have arrived at this conclusion? Yes, you guessed it right -- By keeping a tab on the Negative and Positive words people used in their Tweets.

Boston Marathon bombings 'saddest' day in five years on Twitter:

A five-year look at global happiness, courtesy of millions of English-language tweets have revealed that the April 15, 2013, the date of the Boston Marathon bombings, was the saddest recorded day on Twitter in five years. This is according to a measure of global happiness created by using Twitter data. The finding comes from researchers at University of Vermont. The researchers have launched a new public website, hedonometer.org, that shows daily global mood swings as expressed via Twitter.

As said above, the study looked at the negative words used by English-language users' posts. The negative words include "sad," "victims" and "tragedy," etc. The researchers found that since 2008, the most negative words were encountered on the day of the Boston Marathan Bombings. This also meant, on the day, there was a decline in positive phrases, such as "hahaha" .

The volume of Data Looked at:

The researchers use Twitter's Gardenhose feed to create their "hedonometer", which roughly translates to "happiness meter." This feed is a random sample of about 50 million tweets per day, which represents about a tenth of the messages posted on the site.

An important Observation:

The researchers behind the study, claim that although the Twitter data adjudged the Boston marathaon bombings as the saddest day on Twitter in 5 years, with a happiness score of 5.88 on a scale of 1 to 9; but it may not be the real saddest day, if other variables are taken into account.

These other variables, which the researchers see ever present, with a few major exceptions, are:

1) People are sadder on Mondays and happier on weekends

2) People are Happy on holidays, when they're off of work and with family.

3) Unhappy days, though, happen in response to unexpected events.

4) People respond to negative unexpected events more actively in a negative manner than reacting to happy events in a happy manner.

If these other factors are applied then, the saddest day of them all may be Dec. 14, 2012, the date of the mass shooting at a Newtown, Connecticut, Elementary School.

According to Researchers, the Newtown, Connecticut, Elementary School. bombings may be even sadder than the Boston marathon bombings as:

The Newtown shooting happened on a Friday, a generally happy day when people otherwise would be tweeting positive vibes. The Boston bombings happened on a Monday, the first day of the week, when people are normally unhappy, as they are returning to work.

Is Twitter the Happiness Index of Real World?

A 15 percent of US adults are on Twitter. Researchers say that though a small part of US population. The share is becoming more representative of the US population. Is Twitter the Happiness Index of Real World (here US)?

GlassTweet App -- Enables Google Glass Tweet Pictures

LeWeb founder Loic Le Meur tweets photos from his profile suing GlassTweet. GlassTweet is a third-party tool or app, created by his company, which enables Google Glass user to send tweets. Well using his Google Glass, Google's wearable computer.

Loic Le Meur has been testing out the GlassTweet app that offers users a rudimentary way to tweet photos. To make the world aware of the existence of such an app, the photographs Meur tweets using Glass Tweet accompany the hashtag "#throughglass."

GlassTweet App:

According to Le Meur, the GlassTweet is "very simple, and it's very limited. Basically, the user can take a picture by using voice command and Tweet it using GlassTweet (making a text tweet or message and sharing it, is obviously more difficult; considering the limited success overall with voice recognition (plenty of inaccuracy and miscommunication). That apart, the GlassTweet app offers multiple ways to share a photo. First is Google+ and second is Twitter.

GlassTweet may be a third party app. But according to some reports, Twitter is also making its own version of Twitter app for Google Glass. The reports were fueled by recent comments made by A-list venture capitalist John Doerr and some Tweets which some believe came through some Google Glass App for Twitter. Yes, this is some joke or gravity-less act (reminds one of extensive April Fool jokes Google rolls out every year). In short, Google Glass is being seen as having some potential.

That said, GlassTweet may be simple at present; but with time the world will demand video, audio and text tweets as well. Wearable Computer like Google Glass is a futuristic idea, but it has to surmount great challenges as human blinks and emotions most of the times are inaccurate.

Twitter Advice on "How to prevent Profile Hacks"
After CBS and other high profile Twitter profile hacks, Twitter yesterday took time to tell media houses on how to save their profiles from hacking. Although, the chances of profile hacking tends to be much more for high profile Accounts; Still an ordinary Joe can listen to Twitter on how to protect his/her Twitter profiles from hacking. Watch the video below:

What Twitter advised:

1) Take good care of your passwords -- This means not telling your Twitter username to anyone else, includes colleague, friends or family.

2) Choose strong passwords -- Twitter's advice is to choose a password which is easier for you to remember but difficult for the machine. Twitter says that, unlike common perception, special symbols like #, $ etc. don't make a password strong. Passwords with a lot of special characters are difficult to memorize for humans; but easy to crack for machines. Hence the right way to choose a password is to use a word phrase separated by spaces, which is so personal that you can never forget. Such passwords are difficult to get hacked.

3) Be Attentive while granting access to Third Part Applications -- Whenever any their party application tells you to authenticate, suing your Twitter username and password, make sure the authorization page is Twitter's (not some other domain, An example of such an authorization page is Here).

That's it. ---------

A Tweet by anyone in his constituency puts him to instant action, giving him the distinction of "Being more than a one-man department of city services"; Booker has some Twitter wisdom for all those out there, who want the same Twitter glory.

Booker who is exploiting the Internet for public good and personal political profit! has the following Twitter Tips for You and the politicians:

Twitter Tip #1: "Do not Delete a tweet ever."

Booker once made a coffee-related joke following the revelation of South Carolina governor Mark Sanford's South American love tryst back in 2009. Later, retrospective wisdom caught him, and realizing that the joke may not portray him in good light either, Booker deleted the Tweet. But he soon realized the consequence of the deletion. The Tweet trail soon took the shape of a national controversy.

Lesson learned: "Do not Delete a tweet ever." A malicious, sarcastic Tweet sent carelessly can be ignored; but a malicious, sarcastic tweet if deleted, will always come to Spot light.

Twitter Tip #2: "Always try to retweet your critics."

Booker has a habit of retweeting the Tweets of his critics. He doesn't see it as snowballing bad things sadi about him; but as a way of getting authenticity and credibility.

Lesson Learned: You can decide what stuff from your critics you want to retweet. Actually, if you retweet only those critics who criticize you in civilized manner; you set a unsaid benchmark for your critics. This is better than retweeting anything which from your critics (profanities, malice etc.).

Twitter Tip #3: Tweet Regularly. Give priority to Tweeting

Booker, actually sees himself as the syndicator of information. That's before the conventional media get a skewed opinion about something from your rival; provide it your own. And to syndicate his views and opinions about hot topics, he tweets. Booker feels that a little time management and scheduling makes Tweeting easy.

Lesson Learned: Tweet Regularly. Give priority to Tweeting. It's often seen that busy people tweet quite irregularly. On some days they tweet half a dozen Tweets; and on some they become silent. This is not good. The power of Twitter lies in its Real time attribute. Anyone who follows you on Twitter, feels that you are always there to respond. Though, no one can sit 24 hours on Twitter, but a tweeting discipline can really help.

Twitter Tip #4: "Random act of kindness is indeed powerful."

Booker is known for acting on his heart. On the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, he opened his house to the people.

Lesson Learned: Although this tip particularly applies to public personalities, where such acts of kindness are seen as ground-level politics; but still whoever does random acts of kindness, makes a special place in the heart of the beneficiary. If your Business goal is to create good will among your customers, then you can devise ways on how to showcase to the world your benevolent person.

Twitter Tip #5: "Dictate the Course of Twitter discussion."

After Conan O'Brien joked that the best medical plan for Newark residents was to move out of town, Booker reacted to the joke as a hurt Newark resident. He not only started a counter Twitter campaign to impose a symbolic ban on the Conan's late-night show; but even compelled Conan shell out a $100,000 donation to the Newark Now Foundation.

Lesson Learned: In one of the previous posts, we discussed how politicians use inflection points in public discourses to their advantage. There we discussed how Twitter helps them do that. Booker is actually referring to the same.

Booker is still amaze why politicians haven't caught on to the power of social networking. In his opinion it save time and most of the times increases a politician's reach.

The Twitter Tips shared above are for ant Twitter user who wants to gain fandom on Twitter.
