With the launch of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest Android operating system which has impressed many, Android fans have started asking for the new and improved OS.

To make them happy, the news is already out that they will not have to wait too long as the update will be available soon.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first to carry the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and is expected to give a fight to the Apple iPhone 4S. One of the biggest advantage Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich has over Apple, is that it can work on devices made by different manufacturers. If ICS is the, ‘The’ operating System the world was asking for, then it’s not hard to assume that ICS riding on multiple devices by multiple manufacturers will give tough fight to Apple.

But the good thing is, the OS showcasing a number of promising features, smartphone and tablet manufactures are already lining up to join the race to offer the newest and best in the market.
HTC, Viewsonic and Sony Ericsson have already made public their desire to have the Ice Cream Sandwich in their offerings.

Samsung has also made public its intent to have the IceCreamSandwich OS for the Nexus S. Samsung has not given the update date though.

In the case of Sony Ericsson, the maker will be bringing the ICS updates in early 2012. It’s updating its 2011 Xperia smartphones with Gingerbread 2.3.4 in near future. The ICS update will come to the same portfolio of phones.

Motorola, whose newest offering, the Razr will be available with Android 2.3 Gingerbread for now; will get the Ice Cream Sandwich update by early next year. As is usual with the company, the update will be available OTA.

Talking of tablet PCs, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer, may be the first tablet to get the ICS.

Other tablet makers like LG, Dell, ZTE, Acer and Huawei, although haven’t disclosed their timelien regarding ICS, they will have to do it timely, to stay competitive. ---------
