Huawei E3231 dongle -- New super-fast dongle

The Chinese manufacturer, Huawei has launched a new super-fast dongle - the E3231 ( for Three mobile broadband subscribers in UK and Ireland).

The E3231 USB modem offers fast, safe and affordable data connectivity, and the ability to connect easily and quickly to any PC, netbook or laptop. The dongle is easy to set up out of the box, and connects to the internet in less than 15 seconds, ensuring ease of use for the consumer. The new Huawei E3231 will enable consumers to take even greater advantage of its fast data network in the home and on-the-go.

According to Huawei, the E3231 is capable of download speeds of up to 21.1 Mb (2.7 Mega Bytes or MBs per second) and upload speeds of up to 5.76 Mb ( (.8 Mega Bytes or MBs per second)) on Three's HSPA+ mobile network. This saves the consumers from the effort of signing up for fixed-line broadband services at home, Huawei suggested.

The super-fast dongle - which comes in a black model - is replacing the E353 model on Three's mobile broadband plans.

How Americans use mobile broadband PC data card
According to a comScore study, that compared the Internet usage patterns of mobile broadband PC data card users with the general U.S. Internet population, the availability of mobile broadband affects online time of a user in the following way:

The online access via mobile broadband doesn’t represent incremental Internet usage i.e. if a user uses mobile broadband alone; he/she accesses Internet for the same time as spent on the Wireline ISP.

In addition, if a user uses mobile broadband along with a Wireline ISP; he/she divides his/her online time spent between the two.

The numbers below put the above inferences more clearly:

Connection type

Hours Spent Online

Total U.S. Internet Audience

90

PC Data Card User – Total Time Spent Online

89

PC Data Card User – Time Spent on Data Card along with a Wireline ISP
