How to receive Just Launched Twitter Weekly Summary Email
As you know, Twitter acquired Summify, a social media summary tool in January this year.

The good thing is, Twitter has already found a use of the acquisition.

On the lines of Summify’s daily email digest of the most important content shared among connections on Summify’s social networks; Twitter announced only hours ago a Twitter Weekly Summary Email for millions of Twitter users.

Twitter Weekly Summary Email:

Twitter broke its Twitter Weekly Summary Email to the world as an email which allows users to receive “the best of Twitter in your inbox”.

This weekly summary email is provided by Summify and features the most relevant Tweets and stories shared by the people you’re connected to on Twitter.

Stories feature a design similar to the recently updated Discover tab, emphasizing who shared each story beneath summaries to help you decide which ones matter most to you. Click any headline to finish reading the story, add your take by tweeting directly from the email, and see related Tweets from the people you follow.

This new email digest also features the most engaging Tweets seen by the people you follow, even if you don’t follow those who wrote them. You can see who from your network retweeted or favorited these Tweets and click “View details” to retweet, favorite, reply or view the conversation around them.

You’ll find the option in your Notification Settings and it will look like this (the last item on at the bottom):

In case you don’t see the option yet. Then don’t worry. As Twitter will be gradually rolling out the feature over the next few weeks.

From the look of the things and similar summarizing emails received by Google+ and others; I think the Twitter Weekly Summary Email will benefit two kinds of people on Twitter. One are the marketers, who are using Twitter as their primary battleground; and the other, those twitter users who are using the social network for networking purposes (meeting with influential and top people from same profession).

For others, the email will be yet another weekly email in their inboxes.

Google+ Marketing For Dummies: Jesse Stay’s New Book
Jesse Stay, Marketer and author, who released his first Google+ book on November 15, 2011, named Google+ For Dummies, Portable Edition, which is among 3 other books for Facebook, is writing another book on Google+, entitled Google+ Marketing For Dummies.

Jesse who sees the new book on Google+ marketing, a logical transition to providing valuable and useful info to marketers and users; still wants to clear the air, on “Why he chose to write another Google+ book, when many experts and articles out there are seeing dwindling potential of Google+”.

This is Jesse’s take on the “Why” question:

You may have seen articles recently, fueled by Wall Street Journal, suggesting Google+ traffic is dwindling. As a result you may be asking yourself, "Why is he writing another book for Google+ if it has no traffic?" The truth is, I wouldn't be writing this book if I didn'tsee such potential for Google+. After articles like Wall Street Journal's, I realized there is clearly a lack of education out there on the value Google+ provides for both consumers and marketers. I'm writing this because of articles like that, and I hope I can convince you of the best secret on the internet right now.

In preliminary tests, engagement is already proving to be a higher-weighted factor now in Google search results. Articles outside, and posts on Google+ are showing to weigh very heavily above even recency of articles in search results on Google. We also see this with Google now integrating Google+ results into Google search results. This is just the tip of the Iceberg. For that reason alone, marketers need to be giving Google+ another look. Google+ is not just about traffic toplus.google.com, but even more about how you rank and appear in otherGoogle products. As I have always said, the future of Google+ is just Google.

To summarise, Jesse -- Rather than traffic, engagement is the metric which needs to be focused on while en-cashing on the power of Google+. The future of Google+ is just Google. If Google continues to grow, property-wise, then Google+ will grow as well.

If you look at the Google+ book writing journey of Jesse, then his faith on the potential of Google+ for marketers and users, is clearly reflected.

A Logical Transtion:

Google+ Marketing For Dummies, is preceded by or is the next logical iteration to Jesse’s first Google+ book, Google+ For Dummies, Portable Edition. The first targets consumers and shows them how to get used to the social network, see results and value, and how to make the most of the service as a user. Google+ Marketing For Dummies will then take you, as a Marketer, Brand Manager, or Business Owner, to learn what matters most: how to use Google+ to generate more awareness for your brand, generate new leads, and in turn convert those new users into customers. In fact, you may want to offer the first book to your customers, and use the second book to learn how to market to those customers. Hence, the latest Google + book by Jesse was not an accident. He thought about the usefulness of it; and rolled out the new book.

Availability:

The Google+ Marketing For Dummies is expected to be available to you by late summer or Fall.

A brief Glimpse of the Book:

As a Teaser, here are the currently planned Chapter names of Google+ Marketing For Dummies (these, of course, are subject to change):

15 percent of all Spams globally originated from India: Report
More than half of all spam messages in the world during the third quarter of 2011 (October-December 2011) originated from just six countries. And Indian with 14.8 per cent of such messages topped the pack of six.

Percentage of spam messages contributed by the top six countries (Data: Kaspersky Lab's spam report)

India__________14.8 percent

Indonesia__________10.6 percent

Brazil__________9.65 percent

Peru__________6.65 percent

South Korea__________5.85 percent

Ukraine__________3.7 percent

Rest of the world__________48.75 percent

Note: All of the countries that make up the top 10 sources of spam are situated in South America, Asia and Eastern Europe, informs the report.

What are the reasons?

According to Kaspersky, the primary reason for these countries to feature in top ten list of Spam senders, is that there are numerous users in these countries and they are, for the most part, not very experienced when it comes to IT security; making them a soft target for cybercriminals spreading spam-bots (PC networks controlled by hackers are called Bot networks).

The above reasoning can be understood, when one looks at the percentage of spam contributed to global spam, by all GCC countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates). GC countries together accounted for just 1.33 per cent of all global spam, with Saudi Arabia leading the pack. This the report attributes to the low number of users and more vigilance in protecting computers in these countries. ---------

Marketers listen-- men spend more time online
According to a study done by The UK Men Online, which can be found here;

UK men either matched or surpassed women in time spent online.

In terms of online population, the two genders are close to each other, with the women slightly behind. But women are surely catching up.

The projections till 2013 reflect this. But with the online UK male population rising to 22 million or 2.2 crore(50.5%), they will remain the online majority till 2013. At present this number is 20 million or 2 crore(51.1%).

Other important revelations of the study are:

--Communications, entertainment and e-commerce are leading activities for UK men online. This behavior is different from that of female Internet users.

--While shopping online men straightaway move to specialty sites (or sites which are considered the best), while women head to search engines. Means women as expected will window shop first and then choose the best deal irrespective of the best company tag.

--In addition, men are more engaged with the mobile Web than women. Inference that can be derived is, women still feel their mobile devices (cell phones, PDAs, and other portable gadgets) to be their private space.

***Here, let I share with you one of the inferences that I derived from my youmint post—A free sms service. From my down line at youmint, I found that only one out of every 13 new users at youmint is a woman. I don’t know whether this is a generalized fact; but up to now, I see the same trend in my Youmint down line; and that too after I tried to clarify every doubt in the youmint review. You can find it here.
