Why most people are annoyed by hearing someone speak on a cellphone: A scientific reason

The scientific reason is: Halfalogue

American researchers have found that overhearing a cellphone conversation is annoying (even more than overhearing two people talking) for one simple reason: Hearing only half of the conversation drains more attention and concentration than when overhearing two people talking.

And as a listener, one has less control to move away his/her attention from half a conversation (or halfalogue) hence it becomes more annoying than when listening to a dialogue.

The constant struggle to try to make sense of snippets of conversation and predict what speakers will say next makes listening to someone else's phone conservation attention demanding and hence annoying. --------
