Facebook Opens India Office

On Thursday, Facebook, Inc. opened an office in Hyderabad in India.

A move that is likely to help the social network boost advertiser numbers and bring in more software developers.India has one of the largest bases of application developers in the world, which has already drawn in the likes of Microsoft Corp, Sun Microsystems Inc. and Oracle Corp.

Facebook had 12 million users in India on July 22 this year.

Facebook is the third-most visited website in the country, behind Google India and Google, according to web ranking service provider Alexa said. Orkut, Google's social networking site, is ranked seventh. Facebook surpassed orkut in July this year; to become India’s top social network. --------
