Google Nexus tablet confirmed: WSJ Report

Google may have failed in its first attempt at “direct to consumer sales model” in 2010 with the Nexus One; the Search giant has till much faith on the model. Hence Google plans to try the model once again; with Google Nexus tablet.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Google is planning to roll out a Nexus Tablet in 2012 and sell it directly to the end users.

Carriers won’t be involved. Instead, Google will sell the tablets over the web and ship them directly to buyers. This is different from the model followed with Nexus One, where carriers had to be involved to some degree as the phone would be using the carrier networks and need a carrier plan.

What will be Google Nexus tablet like:

The tablet will be a Wi-Fi only device, so the customer relationship would be directly between Google and the end users. This will help Google follow the path Apple traced for its tablet, the iPad. Notably, 90 Percent of All Tablets sold in US in 2011 are Wi-Fi (making many experts infer that they are mainly wi-fi only Apple iPads ). That aprt, this will help Google sell the tablets not only on the web but also through retail stores such as Target, WalMart, BestBuy and others, just as Amazon does with its Kindle devices. --------
