Facebook responsible for 1 in 5 divorces in US
Remember the pastor who told his staff to delete their Facebook accounts, as he believed that Facebook encourages people to commit adultry (although it’s another thing that he himself had feet of clay). If yes, then a recent study is supporting his belief.

Facebook has indeed changed the way people in America communicate plays and apparently cheat on their spouse. Much in a way the said Pastor had cautioned,

According to a new survey by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, ‘1 in 5’ or 20 percent of divorces involve Facebook. And, none other than the Old flames are torching a great many of these marriages,

Here is how it all happens: Spouses track down old loves and rekindle relationships they really shouldn’t have. spouses getting sexually chatty with the folks on their friends list. Finally, one revealing photograph someone tagged to suggestive flirting being posted on a spouses wall, clears the air.

80 percent of lawyers are reporting a big upswing in the amount of adultery evidence coming in from social media these days. Top marriage breaker is Facebook with 66%, followed by MySpace at 15%.

As if limit on words can’t stop someone from romancing, Twitter is at third place with 5%. ---------

What does MySpace Facebook connect Deal imply
MySpace has confirmed that it has signed an agreement with Facebook to allow people to sign on to MySpace using their Facebook login.

Now Twitter signing a deal with Apple, linking the Microblogging website to with Apple Inc's new music-oriented social network, Ping; can some how be understood (as twitter is primarily is word of mouth promotion platform where people either break or share their interests; Apple aims to sell music; both gain); but MySpace, allowing people to connect to its network with their Facebook login is somewhat hard on mind.

Although there may be some reasoning or incentive behind MySpace doing so; below is what I think as the possible causes behind and the consequences of the deal:

As obvious, MySpace may be getting money in exchange of this arrangement. But MySpace may also be under some impression which is telling it that: The changes it has made to itself in recent months are worth propagating; and as it has come down in people’s estimation in recent years; unless it puts itself to the attention of the world; it’s not going to propagate its new avatar well.

Now whether mySpace’s recent overhauling is something not to miss, is a qualitative question (as most social networks are more or less offering the same features; hence of late the aesthetics and ease of use is becoming the deciding factor), but in my estimation, NOW it’s MySpace’s last attempt (people said so when MySpace started to overhaul itself) to either live or die.

If the world finds MySpace not very different; you know what is going to happen and Facebook will be Happy. ---------

Compared to year ago, Facebook traffic is up nearly 200 percent. Facebook now has 60 percent of the traffic to social networks.

Sexual predators excessively abundant in social networking sites
According to a Reuters news, the online networking site MySpace has identified and stopped 90,000 registered sex offenders from using its site in a period of last two years.

How Myspace identified the sex offenders:

Two years back Myspace appointed a background verification firm Sentinel Safe Tech Holdings Corp. to create a national database of sex offenders.

Sentinal operates a U.S. database of sex offenders that includes up to 120 identification details like name, address, scar marks, tattoos etc for each offender.

So the will of Myspace and the advanced technology of Sentinal helped in identifying and kicking out the sex offenders.

In addition, the Government ensured that Myspace remain answerable to the public. To achieve this it made Myspace to testify before a court on this matter. Previously in the absence of Govt activism, MySpace had acknowledged only 40,000 sex offenders on its network.

Not only this, the Govt will also confirm that Myspace has actually removed the said sex offenders from its site. The Govt has ordered Facebook, another social networking site to testify before a court on this issue too.

So, Myspace's will + Sentinal's technology + Govt activism helped nail the offenders.

Don't brush it aside as a trivial matter:

The danger aggravates more when one considers the fact that many minors do use social networking sites. So presence of sex offenders is real threat.
