Facebook May initiate Acquisitions spree in 2011

Facebook Inc., the world’s biggest social-networking service, plans to make about 15 acquisitions in 2011, accelerating its deal-making pace as it seeks engineers who can help keep rivals at bay, reports Bloomberg.

The acquisitions will be a mix of talent acquisitions, where Facebook is looking for people to run important parts of their product, said Michael Brown, a corporate- development executive for Palo Alto, California-based Facebook, said at an event last week.

The key acquisition areas could be in social commerce, as well as mobile and local technology.

In the past one year, Facebook, has enhanced features and advertising services to maintain its surging growth. And is on way to $2 billion revenue in 2010. Facebook up to now has typically focused on acquisitions with 12 or fewer employees. --------
