Heard of the smartphone app Color ?
Color launched last month, is being hailed by many as one of the most innovative Web products to have launched this year -- With a potential to be game changer just like Twitter.
Although some users who have used it so far have complained that the app is difficult to understand - mainly because the benefits of the app are only clear once you use it amongst a crowd of people and in real-time; in addition to many finding the user interface of the app as confusing and inconsistent; a whopping $41 million prelaunch funding may not be for nothing.
The app is bound to have something unique to it.
Color enables you to share "photos, videos and conversations" with a group of people who are at the same location as you. The idea is that it's only useful when you're in the proximity of a group of people. That word, proximity, has since become a trending term among the tech set. Rather than being about your social connection to someone, Color is about how close you are to them, something which can be the next wave of mobile apps? Those who have invested in the startup surely feel so.
This is how Color works: According to RWW, the app is created to be used for events with large groups of people - like a concert or conference. The app allows a user in such a location to share his experience with other present; as well as value add the user’s own experience by giving him alternate views and allow him to see things that he would otherwise have missed.
