US Presence on Social networks 2011

Social networking among American adults has nearly doubled in less than three years, and Facebook is having the bear share of the market. Recent numbers from the Pew Internet and American Life Project, suggest so.

According to Pew, nearly half of all U.S. adults — 47 percent — are engaged in social networking on at least one platform. Back in 2008, this was 26 percent.

92 percent of adults who use social networks are on Facebook. MySpace, LinkedIn and Twitter are next attractions with 29 percent, 18 percent and 13 percent, respectively.

And finally the metric which experts consider most important, i.e. the ‘engagement’. Of all US Facebook users, 52 percent use the site every day. --------
