Beetel Magiq II has replaced the original Magiq Tablet launched two months ago. You didn’t know, anyone else didn’t know as well.

Meant as a replacement of the slightly higher priced original Beetel Magiq tablet (Rs 9,999), the Beetel Magiq II (Rs 9,799)tablet is a stripped down version now original Magiq and has the following specs:

1) Has a 768 MHz (Qualcomm Snapdragon) processor. The original Magiq had a 1 GHz unit.
2) No internal memory. Earlier it was 8 GB. The buyers will instead get an 8 GB SD card free.

Apart from the above, the Magiq II is ditto Magiq I.

Are you thinking that Indian Government’s Aakash tablet should be applauded for its price tag? You are right in doing so. ---------

The Beetel Magiq 3G tablet, which Beetel Teletech unveiled in India earlier this month, is now available for pre-order at Lets Buy for just Rs 9,899. The tablet, running on Android Froyo(Android 2.2 Operating system) is expected to arrive in the second week of September.

The tablet specs go like this:

1) Sports a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen

2) Two, 2 mega pixel cameras, a front VGA camera for video chatting and a rear camera.

3) Powered by 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

4) 8 GB built-in storage, which is expandable up to 16GB via MicroSD card.

5) A 2200 mAh battery

6) Connectivtiy optiosn include: 3G connectivity, providing high-speed mobile internet, along with Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth and HDMI Port to see videos on TV screen.

Designed for social networking, eMailing or net surfing, Magiq is a made for seamless interface and speed.

Tablet which seems to be beating its closest competitor Reliance 3G tablet at Rs 12,999, has to look for one more competitor now, Mercury’s mTab, which is priced similarly, but have some better specs like a 4000 mAh battery, Android GingerBread 2.3 Operating system, 4 GB internal storage, which can be extendable to 36 GB with an additional 32 GB option via a memory card etc. .

Bharti Enterprises Ltd., on Wednesday launched an Indian Rupees 9,999 ($220) 7-inch Google android based tablet in India. The tablet by Beetel Teletech Ltd., a unit of Bharti Enterprises Ltd., is aimed at capitalizing on the expected demand for cheap computing devices in the world's fastest-growing and second-largest mobile phone market.

Beetel Teletech's tablet, named Beetel Magiq, comes with a mobile radio and WiFi chip and runs on Android 2.2 Operating system. The tablet runs on an unnamed 1 Gigahertz chipset processor and contains a front and rear facing 2 megapixel camera.

Notably, India's second largest mobile services company, Reliance Communications Ltd., launched a similar $286, 7-inch Android tablet in India last week.

With the launch the two telecom players hope to offer cheap computing devices to those Indians, mostly in the country's rural areas, a viable alternative to at least 50 percent more pricier Personal Computers. The two companies hope that people in India will readily accept cheaper tablet computers to access internet, just as they adopted mobile phones to access telephone services before owning a landline phone; and finally transitioning to the smartphones from the basic mobile phones.

Notably, the above cheap tablet launches by top telecom companies in India are aimed at increasing data usage to help boost revenue and margins in a market where stiff competition has kept call tariffs at less than one U.S. cent a minute. ---------
