An App to Transfer iPhone Data to Galaxy Device! Samsung is offering free one such app to UK Users to Transfer iPhone Data to one of its Galaxy devices.

Samsung is offering anyone purchasing a Galaxy device in the UK a free application that will transfer their data from their iPhone to their new device. Called Easy Phone Sync, developed by Media Mushroom, the application aids in the transfer of contacts, messages, photos, and DRM-free music and videos from an iPhone or iPad. The application uses iTunes back-up to copy over your messages, contacts, photos and video, and will take your podcasts, music and playlists from iTunes.

The application works in two parts, with one running on your Galaxy device, and downloadable from the Google Play Store (currently lists a second version, called Easy Phone Tunes, which appears to only sync music but is available outside of the UK and on non-Galaxy Android devices. There's also Easy Phone Tunes Plus, which syncs music, album art, podcasts, and multiple playlists.). The second part runs on your PC or Mac computer and is available from http://easyphonesync.com. Once the app running, a user can continue to use iTunes to manage his/her media.

In case you really believe in the “Power of an idea” then a 21 year old New York Uiniversity philosophy major, Jon Chan, can be your guide.

Chan is soon to embark on the entrepreneurial bandwagon with Friidum.com.

The mobile app created this past semester, developed while in iPhone programming class, simply serves as a device to let the user know when a friend has mutual free time. Friidum.com is free and those who sign up will be notified when the mobile app comes out.

The site which grew from trying to solve the problem of not knowing when people have mutual availability became a one of its kind service for college goers.

While there already are a few apps for business meeting planning, the app is unique in hitting the mainstream on the people’s social side, who spend so much time in front of their computer, we never actually seem to go out.

The mobile app of friidum.com, thus can show a user exactly when another friend (s) has mutually free time’ and will allow him or her to call or text her to set them up together.

Have difficulty buying wine? As being a less savvy wine consumer you are not sure about how it scores on taste and what food it pairs with!

A new mobile app will help you tide over this.

The free mobile phone application, called Natalie MacLean Wine Picks & Pairings, allows less-savvy wine consumers to scan bottle bar codes to get instant tasting notes, scores and food pairings. The application accomplishes this by photographing/snapping a picture of any bottle label's bar code to access a database of 150,000 wines at liquor stores across the United States and Canada.

A brain child of award-winning Canadian wine writer Natalie MacLean, a certified sommelier and author of "Red, White and Drunk All Over”, the app is the first of its kind that actually scans bar codes to search wines, instead of having to type in various descriptors.

The application— which also feature a virtual cellar, journal, and Facebook and Twitter integration — have been out for more than a year; the new scanning capability has been added now. The app is currently only available on iPhones only; but MacLean expects the scanning functionality upgrade for BlackBerry users within a couple weeks.

The app currently has over 100,000 users, which MacLean hopes will surge after the new functionality launch on Apple iPhone. ---------

Analytics data from Localytics, says that, this happens a fair amount of time.

According to analytics firm Localytics, 15 percent of app launches happen offline.

Thus after all the talk of improving 3G and 4G and the proliferations of Wi-Fi networks (in developed nations too, Like US), the study finds that a fair amount of apps are still launched when the user is offline. This can be due to unavailability of mobile network OR user's discretion to use certain apps offline.

The study thus suggests to that our wireless connectivity needs to improve and app developers might be well served, by building in more offline use for their apps. This means more offline access for apps and a better transition between offline and online experiences. ---------
