7.9 Inch Apple iPad Mini Launched
7.9 Inch Apple iPad Mini has been Launched. iPad Mini is powered by an A5 processor, is light in weight and even small text is easily readable (text readability is important as Mini has to compete with 7 inch eBook Readers as well ). It's reported that the IPS screen has great wide-viewing angles.

The iPad Mini is 7.2mm thick and is about 300 gms in weight. 

The Mini has the same display as iPad 2 and 4th generation iPad, has the same 1,024 x 768 resolution as the iPad2; hence apps will carry across without any resizing.

Talking of the display, since iPad Mini's 0.9-inch larger than the Nexus 7, the iPad mini offers 35 percent more display area than Google and ASUS' collaboration Nexus 7. This is because, Displays are measured diagonally, so even a small increment to the display size adds much to the display size. For the same reason, the display size of iPad (9.5 inches) is almost double of a 7 inch tablet.

The other specs include, a front-facing 720p-capable FaceTime camera, a 5-megapixel rear camera. The connectivity options in Mini include: 4G LTE, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi at 5.2Ghz, Bluetooth 4.0, and Apple's Lightning connector, first seen on the iPhone 5.  Higher version of iPad mini will have LTE connectivity too. 

Apple claims that the Mini has a 10-hour battery life.

Apple iPad Mini Price:  Apple iPad Mini Wi-Fi model in three memory configurations starting on November 2: $329 for 16GB, $429 for 32GB, and $529 for 64GB. Two weeks later on November 16, we'll see Wi-Fi + 4G models hit the shelves at $459 for 16GB, $559 for 32GB, and $659 for 64GB.

Pre-orders for the $329, 16GB WiFi-only model begin on Friday (October 26th) and will begin shipping on November 2nd. The cellular-equipped models will begin shipping a few weeks afterward on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, with the 16GB base model costing $459, running all the way to $659 for the 64GB unit.

Notably, the iPad Mini is manufactured with the same process as iPhone 5, hence its has the same anodized edges, which one finds on the iPhone 5.

Apple iPad Mini shipping may begin November 2

Late Apple Founder & CEO, Steve Jobs was against a smaller tablet. He publicly criticized tablets with smaller form factor. But the current CEO Tim Cooks is not holding any such views.

And as a result, a smaller iPad or iPad Mini from Apple Stable, could be in many consumers' hands on November 2, the day on which the sales of iPad mini will begin (courtesy rumors).

Notably, Apple has already announced and sent out invitations for a media event on October 23 (So commencement of sales after 10 days, November 2, looks believable)

If rumors so far are to be believed, the new iPad, being called iPad Mini, will have a a 7.8-inch display; and will be priced as low as US$249.

What Apple iPad Mini Buyer Wants?

The tech bloggers online seem unanimous on the latest Apple ipad Mini rumor that the tech giant is soon to send out invitations for an iPad mini event Wednesday. If the rumor comes true, then Apple iPad mini will soon be in your pockets (big pockets).

That said, with a very late entry to the market populated by Amazon’s Kindle Fire, Barnes and Noble’s Nook Tablet and Google’s Nexus 7; many prospective mini buyers are already asking, 'what the iPad Mini should have to make a foothold?'.

Well there are a few things that Apple iPad Mini should have to satisfy such prospective buyers:

Low price: although Apple has the 'diplomatic immunity' sort of, when it comes to pricing its devices; Apple shouldn't make the device pricier than $300 ( no one is expecting Apple to sell iPad Mini for $199). even at that price, Apple has the guts to compete fully with Amazon and Google offerings. At $299, Apple will not only match up with competitors (why buy Amazon or Google, when you can buy Apple for $100 more), but also convert some of its existing customers, who are carrying $199 iPod Touch or the $399 iPad 2.


Screen Size should be Small but not so Small: Means the screen should make use of the most of the space, stretched as much as possible.

Battery life: Tablets are content consumption devices; this is more so more even smaller tablets. If a user has to use Apple iPad Mini as an e-reader alternate, then it should have the unique ability to keep a charge for weeks. Plus, the display should have no glare attribute too. If retaining charging for weeks, is too big an ask, then the iPad Mini should have to have that kind of battery life, which will have to be able to last through a day of moderate to heavy use to compete.

What Apple iPad Mini will look like, courtesy the rumors:

Can have a 7.85-inch screen, powered with the same A5 chip as the iPad 2, a lower resolution quality than the new iPad (iPad 3), which means no “retina display” Apple has put on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Some reports suggest that the device will be Wi-Fi only.

iPad Mini Looks revealed by engineering sample leak
When Steve Jobs was alive, he was not in favour of a 7 inch touch screen tablet. But with Tim Cooks steering the company now; a 7 inch iPad, being called the iPad Mini, appears to be a reality.

An early engineering sample of the iPad Mini appears to have leaked. The sample is a nearly featureless slab which has the new smaller 19-pin mini dock connector (which will find a place in the iPhone5 as well). Next to the connector is a speaker grill (surly as better location, as it save the user from covering it with palm).

Since the dimensions of a display device are measured diagonally; it is seen that a 7 inch screen is 45 percent smaller than a 9 inch screen. The leaked engineering sample reveals that ipad Mini is roughly 2/3 the size of the current iPad (that's 33 percent smaller), and is noticeably thinner. The iPad Mini will be 213mm tall and 143mm wide; thus, just a little wider and taller than the Google Nexus 7 tablet. This is consistent with the recent rumors, which claimed that the iPad Mini would feature a 7.85-inch screen made by Sharp. At that size, Retina Display resolution is possible. But the fact that the app developers have to deal with yet another screen, goes against the screen that size. ---------

Apple iPad with 5-inch Retina Display?
Apple iPhones have a 3.5-inch screen size.

Apple iPads have a 9.7-inch screen size.

So what about ipad Mini? The one which is in constant rumors from the past few months!

Here is the latest rumor about small screen iPad:

According to a Japanese site Macotakara, Apple is working on a 5-inch retina display device. The new 5-inch Apple gadget will be announced in 2013, and will have a 1600 X 960 pixels or 1280 X 960 pixels resolution.

Yes, if the rumor is to believed then Apple iPad Mini won’t have a 7.1-inch screen with 1024 X 760 pixels resolution. Earlier Reuters reported that iPad Mini's screen size to be 7.85-inch. ---------
