Nintendo 3DS XL launching in US on August 19 for $199.99. The same day, Nintendo plans to launch New Super Mario Bros. 2 .

Yes, the new game device with screens much larger than 3DS(hence XL) will sport a 4.88-inch display on top and a 4.18-inch screen on the bottom.

But there's just one thumbstick (No second analog stick). Don't know of you, but developers demanded a second stick even at the time of 3DS launch, complaining that it limited their ability with the device. To take care of the absence of second thumbstick, Nintendo earlier this year launched the 3DS Circle Pad Pro for $20, which effectively hooks on to the handheld to add a second thumbstick.

The Nintendo 3DS XL, offers the same glasses-free 3D experience as its predecessor, the 3DS( with a 3.53-inch upper display and a 3.01-inch lower screen).

For larger screens, get ready to shell out slightly larger money. Nintendo 3DS XL will be available for $199.99, up from the current 69.99 price tag for the 3DS. However, the 3DS XL will come with a 4GB memory card, to make you Happy.

"The Amazing Spider-Man," the upcoming free-roaming action game from Activision Inc. based on director Marc Webb's film of the same name; is all set to make its debut on June 26 for the Nintendo DS, 3DS, Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The game, created by Canadian developer Beenox, will serve as an epilogue to the movie starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.

And see what, in the game the Spider-man has to battle not only a lizard, but also a Rhino, an Iguana and Felicia Hardy.

The movie, a 3D flick, on which the game is based, features Emma Stone as Parker's gal pal Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors, who transforms into the Lizard. The movie will hit the theatres on July 3, 2012.

About the game:

According to the developers at Beenox, the game’s story will not make inferior your movie experience in any way.

The game approaches the universe in a completely different way -- a more grounded, more realistic approach – An approach which gave the developers incredible freedom, informed Beenox studio head Dee Brown.

In an attempt to create a more realistic avatar of Spidey, the developers crafted a virtual Peter Parker that will show injuries he's sustained from battling foes in the form of bloody bruises, heavy breathing and scratches on his uniform. In addition, the game will also allow Peter park rent his own apartment in the game's take on Manhattan and use a smartphone that allows him to tap into a fake Twitter feed.

Beenox Developers who had previously worked on the comic-based Spidey games "Edge of Time" and "Shattered Dimensions," have tried to gel well their version of the Spiderman story in the new game; with the "The Amazing Spider-Man" filmmakers’ version of the game’s plot.
In an effort to expand the scope of Spider-Man's more naturalistic interactive escapade, the game makers re-imagined zany old-school Spidey villains like Rhino and Iguana as Oscorp experiments gone awry.

The developers, are also unleashing a white-hot version of Hardy, the sultry heiress-turned-burglar known as Black Cat, to spar with Spider-Man.

According to reports, the game has taken many cues from Rocksteady Studios' critically acclaimed Batman games "Arkham Asylum" and its sequel "Arkham City,". One important adoption in the upcoming “Amazing Spider-Man" game is the use of a slick combat system, which resembles the Dark Knight's counter-heavy fighting technique. ---------

A picture posted on the DK Vine forum, claims that "at EB Games, they are advertising 'Donkey Kong 3D' for preorder."

Supporting the assertin made at the DKV forum, a listing for Donkey Kong Country 3D has appeared on retailer multiplayer.com along with an image of the game's supposed box art.

But the assertions are being taken with some suspicion; as many users are of the opinion that the box art of the Donkey Kong Country 3D, is actually a creative work done on DS game Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber.

PS Vita Sales in Japan

Sony PS Vita, the new next-generation handheld from Sony, is struggling in Japan. The initial sales numbers of PS Vita point to this.

Launched in Japan on December 17th, Sony PS Vita, which is on sale for a few weeks now, is not selling as the company had expected it to.

PS Vita showed the positive sales numbers for just few days of its launch; and after that there’s a struggle.

The Sony PS Vita has been outsold by not only its predecessor the Sony PSP, but also the rival Nintendo 3DS.

Sales during the week following the launch Weekend:

During the launch Weekend, the Sony PS Vita sold 325,000 units. In the week following (December 19th to December 25th), the handheld only sold roughly 73,000 units.

Sony PSP in contrast sold 101,000 units during the same period.

Nintendo 3DS sales numbers for the same period was 482,000 units.

The Sony PS Vita’s poor showing in Japan, during its first few weeks, has made many suspect its future in US and UK; where PS Vita, which is the most expensive handheld on the market, is going to be launched in February 2012. ---------

Courtesy a French website, Nintendo is planning to revise the 3DS design to include two analogue joysticks instead of one. The said source also informs that the new design will be launched sometime in 2012.

The report on the website can be believed, as the source has a reputation of providing credible information. The website had leaked Wii U and PSP Vita's specs more than six months before their official unveiling.

The second analogue stick is being introduced as the Nintendo feels the lack of it is one of the biggest flaws in the handheld console. Hence Nintendo is developing a peripheral, which will add a second analogue stick to the 3DS, for just about $10.

It has been reported that Nintendo has already roped in a select group of developers to develop games specifically taking advantage of this new controller. Nintendo, who failed to convince consumers that the glasses-free 3D display in the 3DS is not harmful to eyes, has also decided to put 3D on a lower priority in the new console, reports the source.

The above report gains more credibility when one looks at it connected with the 40% price cut on the 3DS. The price cut could mean clearing off old stocks before launching the new design, possibly in 2012. ---------

Nintendo has officially confirmed that a new Pokemon game will be coming to 3DS. The game will go by the title of “Super Pokemon Scramble” and will be the official sequel to Nintendo’s Pokemon Rumble.

And just like any other Pokemon games, Super Pokemon Scramble will allow its player to play the role of a Pokemon trainer. The trainer will then be tasked to collect a wide range of Pokemon monsters and grow their collection.

It has also been reported that the new Nintendo 3DS game will be packed with three new gaming modes. These modes will be called as Pokemon Collection Battle Challenge, Charge Battle and Battle Royale. Each mode will come with different mechanics that a player should follow. Other speculations are stating that the game will most likely be offered as a multiplayer and will be equipped with a trading mode.

The game’s set to hit in Japan on July 28. No word yet on US launch.

The Nintendo 3DS, a glasses-free 3-D display version of Nintendo's popular handheld gaming console, featuring the DS line's characteristic dual-screens (the lower one a touchscreen, the upper display the new 3-D one), two 266MHz ARM processors and relies on SD for expansion-- comes with a 2GB card, is coming on March 27 2011.

What 3DS has:

1) An accelerometer and gyroscope to give it motion-sensing abilities.

2) Charges on cradle instead of the more traditional power socket and cable
there's a charging indicator light that also doubles as a friend alert status.

3) A built-in activity log includes a pedometer and players can earn coins to buy content in certain games.

4) The console's also designed to do clever things when it's notionally "sleeping," as there's a Street Pass mode that lets sleeping 3DS's exchange data if they're nearby--a complimentary service to Spot Pass which allows games to update automatically.

5) A web-browser is built in.

The following games are available at launch : Pilotwings Resort, Nintendogs and Cats, Steeldiver (a submarine game),Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time 3-D and Kid Icarus: Uprising. The 30 titles promised earlier will be launched between 27 march and June 2011.

Price and Availability: The 3DS hits Japan February 26th for ¥25,000 (around $300). Will be launched in US on March 27th, for $250.

Here is the first look at Nintendo 3DS from CES 2011-- Nintendo's Glasses Free 3D gaming device, of more or less the same size and weight of Nintendo 3D lite. The successor to Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DS Lite, has a top screen to display 3D images without the need of 3D glasses, below is a touchscreen for control, on the back side are two cameras to take 3D photographs. The 3D display screen has a 3D slider -- a physical controller on the right vertical side of the display to regulate the intensity of 3D content-- can make it less intense eliminate it altogether. One good feature is the, Street Pass, which allows 3DS to communicate with other 3DSes.

Nintendo 3DS is backwards compatible with DS. Nintendo device will start selling in March. No word on price yet. ---------
