Apple leads the pack in mobile gaming

Since the release of the first iPhone in June 2007, Apple has systematically been revolutionizing the way we interact with our smart phones. The iPhone 5 was recently released in the last quarter of 2012 and the constant upgrade of technology over the last 5 years is clearly evident. Apple has not only revolutionized the way we interact with our phones, but has also changed the way we enjoy all our favorite casino entertainment. The iPhone has made gaming mobile, and has set the trend for Android and other OS and devices to follow in their footsteps.

Not content with scrapping Flash and moving over to HTML 5 in 2010, Apple has also revolutionized the technology we use to play these games on. The iPhone brings casino games to you in a portable and compact environment, yet none of the quality is compromised and the end result is a realistic and authentic representation of the traditional game.

Compatible casinos for iPhone are cropping up everywhere as Apple have become leaders of both the smart phone and tablet generation. Being at the forefront of the gaming market is no small feat and it’s thanks to the iPhone’s state-of-the-art features that it has become such a popular mobile device internationally. By being at the forefront of the mobile market, Apple has dominated the gaming space and with the devices interactive touch screens, speedy processors and large displays they are the ideal platform for the fast paced, nonstop gaming action enjoyed by casino enthusiasts.

Notably, the iTunes Store does not offer games that facilitate real money betting, so it has come down to external developers to create apps and browser based games that are compatible and showcase the devices features. It’s thanks to Steve Jobs controversial decision to ditch Adobe and move over to the HTML 5 platform that makes this type of real money gaming possible, as players are not 100% reliant on Apple for providing them with compatible online casino games. It’s this flexibility that has helped make Apple a leading force in the mobile gaming sector, and their innovative and creative technology looks set to continue to satisfy the ever changing mobile market for the foreseeable future.

Sony plans to bring PS3 Games on Sony Android Tablets and Smartphones

Sony may not be doing great on smartphones and tablets market. But if, Sony --once an Electronic giant, successfully implements the plan it's currently seriously contemplating on; then it can come back to the reckoning.

Sony plans to bring PS3 Games on Sony Android Tablets and Smartphones:

Yes Sony plans to to bring PS3 Games on Sony Android Tablets and Smartphones; so that its loyal gamers at PS3 and other mobile gamers can give its smartphone and tablet business a big push.

And Sony's estimation is not wrong. The smartphones launched in the past six months are powerful enough to completely revolutionize mobile gaming.  The entry of NVIDIA (which a couple of years ago, was known for its graphic efforts), in the mobile device chip design, has elevated the power of smartphones equivalent to laptops. Smartphones with Tegra 3 quad-core processors and the more powerful Mali-400, have elevated smartphones to ultra-powerful levels.

If the trend continues, and if these ultra powerful smartphones are not limited by bandwidth required for the graphic rich and fast console type mobile games, then the phones can be seen to ably handle games with more demanding graphics – ultimately fulfilling Sony's dreams.

Sony's recent acquisition of  a cloud gaming company, Gaikai,  is in line to its plans. Acquiring a Cloud gaming company means that a major problem of buying and downloading a game, which is often large in size depending on the complexity of the graphics, is solved.   When Sony links its mobile games delivery and updation via cloud then a client on the phone can directly connect to the servers via 3G or 4G LTE network (only thing which is required here is an  unlimited mobile data plan active on the user's phone).

A Glimpse of Future:

With increased connectivity & proliferation of internet; people are more prone to be working in a SOHO, that is the "Small Office, Home Office" concept; and will not need usual travelling to work. So if a person is sitting at his home all day; he can buy a bulky gaming console as well.

But if it is believed that, the time saved by a person in commuting for work, will be spent by him in leisure activities like sight seeing, camping and trekking; then he will require a powerful mobile device too. A device which gives him gaming console like gaming experience. Lets see how far, Sony manages to succeed in its plans.

Sony allows HTC to Make Devices for PlayStation Games
Only hours back, Sony, announced about its deal with Taiwanese manufacturer HTC, under which HTC will be making devices that can run PlayStation games. This is the first time Sony has allowed an outside company to do so.

Mobile is the way to Go:

The move is being seen as, Sony finally realising that when it comes to gaming, "Going Mobile" is the way forward. This new found wisdom made Sony open its PlayStation platform to other devices from even rivals (tablets and smartphones). Beginning with HTC devices. Under the deal, Sony Computer Entertainment, the firm's game division, said HTC will join its new PlayStation Certified program. Under the program, Sony can approve certain devices to use its game platform and run official PlayStation titles, provided they meet hardware and software requirements.

What compelled Sony to Open Up:

Sony's inability to gain new consumers to its PlayStation brand in recent times and resulting massive losses.

The Reasons:

Sony has been operating the PlayStation brand under the traditional game console model where titles run exclusively on its hardware. But of late, the gaming on smartphones and tablets, is getting popular at a meteoric pace. Anyone who has a smartphone or a tablet can download game apps and play. Consoles are increasingly getting restricted to passionate or serious gamers. Sony opening its PlayStation Brand to other devices, is its acceptance of the challenge posed by cheap and easily downloadable apps on smarthones and tablet PCs.

New Name 'PlayStation Mobile':

Sony's gaming division also said it will rename the platform that will provide the games to approved devices, from PlayStation Suite to PlayStation Mobile, reflecting its focus on mobile devices. The platform includes a developer suite, the certification program, and an online software store that offers software titles. Sony also said it will work harder to connect its devices with its extensive music, movie and game holdings through online platforms. ---------

Google to have Apple Game Center like Native App for Android
Who says Big companies don’t learn for each other!

According to BI, Google has pinpointed two things which till now prevented Google from earning well from the fat growing mobile games market. The two things, which the search giant learned from none other than rival Apple, are : 1) A native Android app similar to Game Center, an app on the iPhone that connects players in most of Apple's iOS games; and 2) Making the payments system for Google Play, the online store where players buy Android games and other apps, as smooth as buying games in the App Store.

This Google thinks are vital to make Google a contender in the fast-growing mobile games market.

What will ‘native Android app similar to Game Center’ offer?

A social "achievement" system, which will offer gamers awards and trophies for achievements in Games. In addition, there will be a leaderboard which will rank players against their friends. From where Google will get all these friends? Google+ .

Although Developers creating Android games are already using a variety of third-party solutions right now, like OpenFeint, to make for the deficiency; Google is hopeful that with a native game center and effective tweaks to the payments system for Google Play, Android developers will be happy. ---------
