Gingerbread Update for HTC Desire
Finally after a long long wait the Gingerbread update for Desire has arrived. But it is not the way we expected it to arrive. This Update will be available as RUU which means you will have to download the file from the Source Link. HTC have been working hard on it and even we believe it was not sensible to Release a OTA update as even if we might have got this update we would have faced even more Internal Memory Problems.

Samsung Galaxy S 2 launched in Korea ahead of global launch
Ahead of its global launch in May, Samsung Electronics Co, the world's No.2 handset maker, has launched a new version of its flagship smartphone Galaxy S in South Korea (will be sold by operators SK Telecom, KT Corp and LG Uplus.).

Samsung is targeting a global sales of over 10 million this year.

One of the reasons for a local debut of the Galaxy S II, is Samsung’s legal battle with Apple Inc over alleged mobile technology patent infringements and design copy claims.

Samsung Electronics Co, a South Korean firm, hopes that the new model, will boost its smartphone shipments to 60 million units this year, globally from May through 140 operators in 120 countries. Thus the company hopes the new model to account for 17 percent of its global smartphone sales this year.

That apart, Samsung is also targeting an over five-fold rise in sales of its Galaxy Tab tablets.

A bit about Samsung Galaxy S II:

The phone, which is based on Google's Android operating system, has Samsung's own dual-core application processor. It is slimmer and has a bigger display than the previous version. Notably the previous version has sold around 14 million units since its launch in June 2010 ( South Korea, one of the most lucrative markets for Samsung's smart phones, accounted for 2 million Galaxy S handsets from these; in short one-fifth of the global total). ---------

Developer makes Xperia X10 to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread
It appears -- Sony Ericsson's flagship 2010 handset, the Xperia X10, has tested its owners to the limit. The fact that it seems to officially stay on Android 2.1 (Android 2.1 Eclair)forever, has made some mod their Xperia X10 to try new things.

A developer of Android’s modding community has managed to run a Sony Ericsson Arc version of Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread on the Xperia X10. The present version is still imperfect, with no sound output or camera, but it sounds like the Dutch hacker has got the WiFi working as well as Bluetooth, Timescape and GPS. ---------

First look of Android 2.3 Gingerbread unveiled ! By mistake!
Google is teasing since October about its Android OS next iteration the ‘GingerBread’ ; but the newest iteration of the mobile OS is not rolled out yet.

But a recent video, posted by Google Hong Kong showcasing Voice Search in Cantonese – had practically set aside the curtains veiling the Ginger Bread; if it had not removed the said video, quickly.

The said video, which has been removed by Google Hong Kong now, and unearthed by unwiredview.com, was showing a smartphone, on which the Voice Search in Cantonese app is demoed, running Android 2.3 or Gingerbread.

unwiredview.com points that there aren’t too many visual differences between Android 2.2 and Android 2.3: the status tray is now black, the launcher is slightly tweaked, and some buttons are restyled. ---------
